It is reported that China had built a wall to protect herself against invasion; but the invaders came through the gate and China was vanquished because she attended to building walls instead of attending to building the guardian of the walls.
Let’s assume that Erdoğan, the builder of modern Turkey, has triumphed and that Turkey has triumphed in her struggle to achieve economic and civil revival, exactly like Germany and Japan have triumphed, but do these achievements include a glorification of Allah’s (swt) sanctities and boundaries? Do they uphold the word of Allah (swt) supreme, or do they entrench modernism and secularism under the guise of modernisation and urbanisation? If material achievements were the criterion, we can then claim that Burj Khalifa in Dubai has triumphed over the tents, and even the skyscrapers of the entire world. Why don’t we praise the Gulf rulers for achieving more than what Erdoğan has in terms of urbanisation? Why do we criminalise Bin Salman for secularising the Saudi society and exonerate he who brazenly implements secularism? Is the alleged economic success the victory Allah (swt) wants? Suppose the man has genuinely been working for Turkey’s sake rather than for the role assigned to Turkey in the region, has Islam triumphed in Turkey? Those who think that championing the Hijab within the framework of the secular freedom of creed and venting society’s resentment through some religious rites is a triumph for Islam are very naive to say the least; and those who think that siding with the Kuffar and being loyal to them is a vehicle towards achieving Islam’s ascendency are woolgathering; and those who place the capitalist material values ahead of the spiritual values are losers because Allah (swt) says: “But what is the enjoyment of worldly life compared to the Hereafter except a little.”[Al-Tawbah 38];”Say: If your fathers, your children, your siblings, your spouses, your kindred, the wealth that you have gained, the commerce in which you fear a decline, and the dwellings in which you delight are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger, and Jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah brings about His decision; and Allah guides not the people who are disobedient.” [Al-Tawbah: 24]
Indeed, there exists a genuine rift between Erdoğan and America and Erdoğan is genuinely attempting to make Islam equal to other religions in Turkey but within the framework of investing in Islam to boost his domestic and regional popularity and exert pressure on Europe and America to dissuade them from destroying the foundation upon which the regime in Turkey is built, namely the unity of Turkish soil. Hence, the point at issue is not about rejecting what Erdoğan is implementing in terms of actions approved by Islam, but rather because the reality from which such actions are initiated is not approved by Islam and does not lead to the rise of Islam. Therefore, do not compare the achievements of Erdoğan to other than Islam, glorify what does not entail a glorification of Allah’s (swt) sanctities, falsely accuse your Qur’an of accommodating pretence at the expense of the divinity and lordship of Allah (swt), turn the ruling by other than what Allah (swt) has revealed into Islam and religiousness and allow your love of people to overwhelm your love of Allah (swt): “And yet there are people who choose to believe in beings that allegedly rival Allah, loving them as Allah should be loved: whereas those who have attained to faith love Allah more than all else. If they who are bent on evildoing could but see – as see they will when they are made to suffer -that all might belongs to Allah alone, and that Allah is severe in punishment.” [Al-Baqara:165]
